  ABOUT LARRY LAVEMAN

Larry was born and raised in New York City. After receiving his MSW from Adelphi University in 1975 he left New York and began to build his professional career. His first job was in Niagara Falls, NY where he was a marriage and family therapist.

He came to San Diego in 1977 to pursue his postgraduate training. Moving to Los Angeles after completing his training, he worked for three years as a substance abuse team leader for the first polydrug treatment center in California. His work was recognized in a made for TV movie called Angel Death, hosted by Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward.

In 1980 Larry returned to San Diego and became the Chief Clinical Director for Harmonium, Inc., a nonprofit community based agency. He maintains the same position today. He also opened his private practice in 1980. In 1986 he moved his office to Solana Beach, California.

Striving to reach a larger audience of mental health professionals, he turned his attention to publishing in the early 1990s. His journal publications describe innovative models of therapy focusing on the integration of psychology and larger belief systems. Mysticism and Modern Life is his first book.

Larry has been with his wife since 1974. He has two children.
